These customizations are not intended to remove credit from the
Sims game or in any way deface or blemish the great work of the
Maxis team. The game they have created is a customizer's dream.
They are simply an attempt to personalize the game to a greater
extent than just rudimentary skinning.
II. - CREATING A NEW SPLASH SCREEN
You can use any graphics you desire for the start-up screen
as long as it is saved in the following format:
800x600 24-bit (True Color) Windows Bitmap.
III. - ADDING THE NEW SPLASH SCREEN TO THE GAME
The start-up screen needs to be properly placed in the Sims
game directory if it is going to be recognized by the game.
To accomplish this, create a folder (if it doesn't already exist)
in your Sims UIGRAPHICS folder named "OTHER".
The location will be dependant on where you installed the game.
If you used the default, the UIGRAPHICS folder is located here:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MAXIS\THE SIMS\UIGRAPHICS\
Regardless of where you installed The Sims, you need to
ensure that the "OTHER" is placed properly. The default
location will appear as follows:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\MAXIS\THE SIMS\UIGRAPHICS\OTHER\
Place the new start-up screen into the OTHER folder.
The game should recognize it during start up.
To remove the start-up screen, move it out of the OTHER folder.
The game should return to using the original start-up screen.
I am including two start-up screens for download.
Follow the above instructions for installation into the game.
